In 1989, the Lamaze Organizations dropped the psycho-prophylactic pain-blocking tenet from skills they teach. Janis may be one of the last educators who still teaches the original Fernand Lamaze pain-blocking method. You will be trained in authentic, "Old School" Lamaze.

At Aloha Lamaze and Breastfeeding Services, expectant Moms and their
birth partners learn to labor and birth "in communion" with each other and
their babies.
Birth Partners learn what to say and not say, when to say and when not to say, when to do and when not to do.
You will learn how to word your evidence-based, option-filled CULTURAL BIRTH VALUES LIST (aka Birth Plan) so it has no loop-holes to allow for The Male Medical Model of MANAGED Maternity Care abuses and manipulations.
Janis has taught for so many years that some of her first Lamaze Babies are grandparents! Ask any one who knows her whether time and work have dampened her passion for Lamaze; the answer is NO!

We call what you are seeking and I am teaching: Normal Birth (Spontaneous labor with no unnecessary medical interventions.) Birth without an epidural (your definition of natural childbirth) can have upwards of 15 VERY UNnatural interventions before ever getting to an epidural.

In 1989, the Lamaze Organization (Lamaze International) eliminated the physopryphylactic method from their training program . So since the 1990s, unless an instructor was trained before that, Lamaze became a Philosophy,
not a Method.
Literally, once that happened, the lamaze Brand imploded and earned the reputation of "doesn't work".
Janis may be one of the last educators who still teaches the original Fernand Lamaze pain-blocking method.
She used the skills in three unmedicated, vaginal births, still uses the skills in daily life and so can you! You will be trained in authentic, "Old School" Lamaze.

With decades of experience in childbirth, Janis Bush has taught over 11,000 expectant and new parent couples how to birth and breastfeed gently SINCE 1977.
Using the authentic Lamaze

This course is Consumer-Oriented, Mom-Uplifting, Partner-Centered, and Baby-Cherishing. You will receive my course workbook, Dads (Or Other Cool People) As Doula to accompany every skill and attitude I teach you. I will guide you to birth IN COMMUNION with each other and your baby!
Medical and Nursing schools do not teach about the normalcy of pregnancy, labor, birth, and breastfeeding, and the sex hormones that drive all phases and stages of childbearing.....even though all of those aspects of childbearing are driven by NORMAL sex hormones, just like PUBERTY is. All are NORMAL Physiologic processes :>)
Everything contemporary doctors and nurses are trained for is maternal pathology--meaning childbearing is an experience of illness, not health in their minds. Their "best, good idea" is to MANIPULATE your labor and birth process through the Manipulating, Male Medical Model of MANAGED Maternity Care. This is true even if your OB is a woman.
With very few exceptions, healthy, full-term mothers and babies do not need the routine ("everybody gets this, hope you like it, too bad if you don't") interventions that are forced upon childbearing couples and babies, often without warning or permission daily in American hospitals..
All patients have rights which are found in the "Patient Bill of Rights" of each medical practice, hospital, or clinic. The Joint Commission's* "Speak-Up Campaign" delineates your rights as patients---Even simple things like 1) staff members introducing themselves as they enter your room 2) after knocking and 3) asking permission to touch you before they do, are not evidenced by most medical staff members. Courtesy, respect, being listened to, and honoring of your cultural desires in birthing (your birth plan IS your birth culture) are trivialized and joked about at nurses stations nationwide. I will teach you how to turn this around and get the respect you deserve and to which you have the right.
Despite the attituder of medical "professionals", PATIENTS HAVE THE RIGHT TO INFOMRED REFUSAL AS WELL AS INFORMED CONSENT. PS: The room you "rent" in the hsopital is YOUR room while you are there, not the territory of the medical staff. That is called "Reverse Hospitality". In reverse hospitality, lmedical staff enters to serve you You are not their servants!
Rarely will you even encounter a careprovider in an office, clinic, or hospital who has even witnessed a spontaneous labor (starts on its own) without unnecessary and dangerous interventions. They can't BE IT, if they can't SEE IT.
I will teach you your rights, how to word your "demands", how to write a loop-hole-free Cultural Birth Values List (birth plan) so your journey is one of honor
not dismissal.
